8th IEEE International Symposium on Web Site Evolution (WSE 2006) September 23-24, 2006 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA http://www.WebSiteEvolution.org/2006 Co-located with the 22nd IEEE International Conference on Software Maintenance (ICSM 2006) ************************************************************************ PRESENTATION ------------------------- Since its inception in 1999, the Web Site Evolution (WSE) series of events have provided a forum for researchers and practitioners to present original work on subjects related to the disciplined evolution of large-scale Web sites. Since last year the focus area of WSE has been broadened to include research on methodologies, models, tools and technology for designing and developing Web applications. We cordially invite you to participate in the 8th IEEE International Symposium on Web Site Evolution (WSE 2006), to be held on September 23-24, 2006, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Research related to Web applications design, development, maintenance and evolution continues to be very lively, sustained by the fact that the Web has become the favorite meta-platform for new applications being developed and the target mata-platform for legacy system being reengineered. Also the development of new Web technologies, such as Web services, increases the interest in this research area and enlarges research horizons. WSE 2006 will be a two-day symposium and aims to bring together members of both the Software Maintenance & Evolution and Web Engineering communities. The goal is to provide researchers and practitioners working in the areas of Web application design, development, maintenance and evolution with an environment to discuss results and exchange experiences about models, methods, techniques and technologies related to the above-mentioned areas. Selected authors will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers to a special issue of the Journal of Software Maintenance and Evolution: Research and Practice. TOPICS OF INTEREST ---------------------------------- Topics of interest of WSE 2006 include, but are not restricted to, the following: - Web design methodologies, meta-models and tools. - Design patterns and architectures for Web applications. - Technologies and tools for the development and fast prototyping of Web applications. - Techniques and tools and for the analysis, reverse engineering and evolution of existing Web sites. - Integration of business processes in Web applications - Techniques and tools for reengineering legacy systems towards a Web-based version. - Web applications re-architecturing and refactoring. - Web applications testing and security - Empirical studies on Web applications. - Web applications documentation. - Usability evaluation of Web applications. - Costs/benefits estimation and evaluation. WSE 2006 is co-located with the 22nd IEEE International Conference on Software Maintenance (ICSM 2006). ICSM is the community's flagship event focused on the modernization of existing systems. The technical program of WSE 2006 will include invited talks, paper presentations, and session of discussion. SUBMISSION PROCESS ------------------------------------- Participants are invited to submit original research papers or experience reports, not exceeding 4000 words (8 pages using 10-point type) including figures and references. Papers must be submitted online via the CyberChair system at: http://cyber.rcost.unisannio.it/~wse2006papers Submissions may be in Adobe Acrobat PDF, Microsoft Word, or Postscript formats and are due by June 19, 2006. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by July 7, 2006. Final versions of accepted papers are due on July 21, 2006. SPECIAL ISSUE OF JSME ------------------------------------- Authors of best papers from WSE 2006 will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers for a special issue of the Journal of Software Maintenance and Evolution: Research and Practice (JSME).
